About a month ago, I was home in Wisconsin and had a photoshoot with my best friend, Aly (a photoshoot was the least I could do, since I made her run a half marathon with me the day before #truebestfriend). As I thought of locations we could go to, I remember that a year ago, nearly to the exact day, we also did a photoshoot.
This blog post is different than my other posts. It's the side by side comparison of those two sessions: 2018 (left images) vs 2019 (right images).
Our 2018 shoot was pretty different. We shot in golden hour sunset light and it was warm and bright. It was such a nice evening, we just kept shooting and the session was probably 1.5-2 hours. I remember being so frustrated because even though we had gorgeous lighting, I couldn't get it to work for me. I didn't know where to put Aly to get the look I wanted. Even though some of the images are nice, I honestly wasn't happy with a majority of them. 2019 brought rainy, cloudy and overcast weather and thus, we only shot 15-20 minutes because it was so stinking cold out. But this year, I was able to deliver twice the amount of images. They were consistent in tone, lighting and style and, because of that, were a breeze to edit.
I've still got more to learn, but I love this blog post because it shows how much I've grown in a year. It shows what can happen when you invest in yourself and make an intentional effort to better your skills and yourself. These images are proof of that.
I can't wait to see the 2020 comparison.
