It was when I watched her canter I knew. In heels, in a dress, in a field, with a chestnut mare and Kayla didn't bat at eye. Moments like that confirm your skills as a horsewomen (or lack thereof). But watching Kayla, there was no question. The mare beneath her, Misty, trusted her entirely and was so evident as the evening wore on that the two of them have a truly special bond.
I love watching girls like Kayla work with horses, even if it's just during a photoshoot, because it's the accumulation of years and years of hard work, of lots of hours in the saddle and lots of sweat. Skills and horse sense like that don't happen overnight and it's always a treat to witness.
Kayla is part of the 2020 Saddle Squad and I'm beyond thrilled to have her on the team. Not only is she a dedicated rider, but she also works and attends MTSU and is hard at work preparing for the AQHYA World Show. I have no doubt she and Misty will stand apart from everyone else. Kayla's beauty, grace and strength show in every one of these images and I'm so incredibly honored I had the privilege of capturing these moments.
